The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world - the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it’s an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future.

The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over three million visitors annually. The MCC is the largest sporting club in the country with over 150,000 members and also manages 13 sporting sections with participation over 2,600. The Australian Sports Museum (ASM) has its home at the MCG, celebrating the country’s rich sporting history, which is also managed by the MCC.

The Finance and Business Development department is responsible for administering the finances of the Club’s entities, including reporting, financial performance management, investment, compliance, financial integrity and debt management. Also responsible for major project management, business intelligence. Strategic and business planning, risk management, internal auditing, contract management, business resilience, legislative compliance, tendering and procurement.

Due to an internal promotion we are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join this dedicated team. Reporting to the Executive Manager - Finance, the job’s goals are to provide the Finance & Business Performance Team with professional assistance:

- On performance management accounting and financial accounting tasks in relation to MCC as Ground Manager and other related entities.
- In the areas of reconciliation, cash flow management, management reporting, process/reporting development, financial analysis, statutory reporting and departmental account management.
- By being a trusted advisor and business partner to the broader business by providing financial insights, analysis, and guidance.

Key responsibilities of the Finance Business Partner include (however not limited to):

- Production of management and board financial reporting and reporting monthly financial performance to the various General Managers
- Process journals and other tasks to complete the month end process.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Attend Finance & Audit Committee meetings, recording and preparing the meeting minutes.
- Provide support input to the annual external audit process and any internal audit programs
- Coordinate Capital Project and other Capex related accounting, including reporting and Fixed Asset Register maintenance and management.
- Accounting and reporting relating to the Ground’s catering returns, including share owing to Hirers.
- Provide input and support in all aspects (end-to-end) of MCG Match Returns as they relate to AFL, Cricket and Special Events.
- Mentor junior team members and provide support/guidance in regards to CA/CPA designation training program.

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in an accounting / finance role working in a busy professional environment. As well as advance level of knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and accounting software. You will also be highly organised with great communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; and have the ability to building strong meaningful relationships and interact with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. In addition you have a strong attention to detail, an eye for improving process, and excellent customer service skills with a sense of pride in your work and team output.

It is essential you will have the following qualification(s):

- Business/Commerce, Finance or Accounting degree
- Post-graduate accounting qualification required (i.e. CA/CPA).
