The APS 5 Personnel Security Officer requires effective organisational and administrative skills to coordinate and deliver Personnel Security functions across Treasury, and several external agencies, in line with legislative frameworks and departmental processes.
The role reports to the Team Leader Personnel Security and sits in the Protective Security Unit.

The Personnel Security officer will be required to support the day-to-day operations of the Personnel Security team, with tasks including:

- Primary point of contact for the Personnel Security team, including mailbox and telephone enquiries.
- Conduct staff and contractor onboarding and internal movement security processing.
- Liaise with the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) and other external stakeholders to achieve security clearance outcomes.
- Provide briefings and advice to agency personnel, including briefings to staff travelling overseas.
- Provide exemplary customer service to treasury staff and stakeholders.
- Adherence to internal processes and policies, and compliance with Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Undertake Internal Vetting Risk Assessments as required.
- Assist with Security Governance Reporting.
- Manage security classified and sensitive personal information in accordance with PSPF.
- Contribute to the work of the broader Protective Security team and Branch, as required.

**Knowledge**
Understanding of, or ability to quickly acquire an understanding of:

- the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework
- understanding of departmental policies, procedures, and associated business practices

A formal qualification in Personnel Vetting is desirable.
