**The Organisation**

The Hospital is the State’s tertiary referral centre and is also the primary teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.

The Department of Geriatric Medicine has Staff Specialists with a range of clinical, teaching and research interests and experience. This is a supportive, coherent and highly functioning team that is motivated to meet the service needs of the community and to promote education and innovation in Geriatric Care.

The Department is actively involved in clinical redesign to improve the older person’s journey within the organisation and is involved in interstate research collaborations in Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. The department also participates in monthly regional outreach clinical services.

**The Job**
- The Consultant Geriatric Medicine provides inpatient and community-based services and works within the Aged Care Team.
- You will provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to Geriatric Medicine patients.
- Actively pursue improved outcomes for Geriatric Medicine patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Geriatric Medicine.
- You will provide services in Geriatric Medicine including diagnosis, treatment and care for patients, both inpatient and outpatient.
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.
- Undertake research in Geriatric Medicine.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
