**THE COMPANY**
Our client are a Global company made up of three Materials Services Divisions: Trading, Infrastructure, and Materials. They are a leading company in the diverse industries of Steel Trading, Non-Ferrous Distribution and Construction. They are also known for importing a broad range of steel, steel-related, and construction related products into the Australian and New Zealand markets.

**THE ROLE**
The purpose of the role is to coordinate and arrange production activities and support inventory planning for the business. The Production Planner will be frequently working across multiple areas of the business and complete tasks both in the office and on the workshop floor, as required. A high regard for safety, quality and meeting deadlines are critical in this position. The Production Planner will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with both the Operational Excellence Manager and the Sales Manager.
- Contract Review of order confirmations sent by the Sales Team
- Production planning - providing visibility on production and live updates on order status
- Manage Production Demand and workflow Scheduling
- Liaising with management to ensure outcomes and deadlines are met
- Reporting regularly to the General Manager on all production and staff matters in order to maintain communication and feedback
- Expediting orders - monitoring each order as it goes through production and track its progress
- Allocating material - ensuring the best yield is achieved from an operational perspective
- Running the waterjet cutter - being responsible for this aspect of the business including creating programs for quotes and order confirmations
- Running the daily production meeting - going through the production schedule and leading the team to meet the set targets
- Delegating responsibilities to the team to ensure production targets are being met
- Engaging in the manufacturing process ensuring the appropriate set up, production and shut down of equipment are completed Supervising, motivating and encouraging employees while understanding and developing individual capabilities
- Ensuring conformance to specifications of all products and processes in order to maintain compliance with company policies and safety standards
- Making recommendations and implementing value improvement programs

**ABOUT YOU**
This position requires someone who holds the ability to work under pressure while balancing the need to meet commercial outcomes. The Production Planner will be proactive in regard to safety, have a high attention to detail, leadership skills and excellent time management with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience or trade in Engineering, metals or aerospace industries
- Experience and/or ability to operate production machinery - waterjet cutter
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and operate different technological platforms i.e. AutoCAD, SAP etc.
- Hold a valid forklift licence and have high reach and stand on forklift experience, would be advantageous
- Willingness to work various shifts as needed (day, afternoon or night)
