The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) exists to meet the Nation’s commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community—the men and women who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime. We do this through programs of care, compensation, commemoration, income support and support services. Our aim is to ensure enhanced self-sufficiency, quality of life, financial wellbeing and community recognition for those we support.

The Client Benefits Division (CBD) delivers products and services to give effect to defined DVA policy outcomes. The Division is responsible for case management including registration, assessments, determinations and reconsiderations, as well as operational support activities such as quality assurance and compliance, performance reporting, and business improvement.

**Development opportunities and flexibility**

These roles are a perfect gateway into a career with the APS. There are growth opportunities within the roles and also at higher levels once skills have been developed. Many previous successful applicants have used their performance in these roles as a launching pad to a varied career both within our department and the wider APS. The roles accommodate work from home arrangements, flexible time and generous leave provisions. **Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

**Notes**

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 18 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants will be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
