**About the role**

As an Environmental Officer, your role will play a crucial role in ensuring that our operations align with environmental regulations and sustainable practices. You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management plans, monitoring compliance, and providing guidance to operational teams to minimize the environmental impact of our activities.

**As an Environmental Officer, your responsibilities include**:

- Stay abreast of local, regional, and national environmental regulations applicable to mining operations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental permits and licenses.
- Conduct regular environmental audits to assess adherence to standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental management plans tailored to the specific needs of the mining site.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into operational processes.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of environmental data, including air and water quality, soil conditions, and biodiversity.
- Prepare regular reports on environmental performance, incidents, and mitigation measures.
- Engage with local communities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to foster positive relationships and address concerns related to environmental impacts.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Identify potential environmental risks associated with mining activities and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Work closely with operational teams to implement best practices and sustainable solutions.
- Conduct training sessions for site personnel on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Promote a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility among all employees.
- This position may require occasional travel to other sites or meetings with regulatory agencies.

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in environmental management within the mining industry.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices.
- Certification as a Professional Environmental Auditor (preferred).
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring technologies (preferred).
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and community relations (preferred).

Pay: $70,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
