**The role**

Adbri is seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven and highly capable environmental specialist to join the Environment Team that supports our operations in compliance as well as environmental performance improvement projects.

You will be responsible for development, delivery and implementation of key strategic environmental improvement initiatives and environmental functions in partnership with Operations Division and the Corporate team as relevant. The role will provide strategic and tactical advice and help drive initiatives to minimise business exposure from environmental risk, with a key focus on shaping and promoting environmental compliance and performance standards consistently across the operations.

The position will also have a strong focus on coaching and capability development across operations for environmental management and performance assurance.

The position will support Adbri’s Concrete, Aggregates and Masonry Division and forms part of a national team. Intra
- and interstate travel along with internal and external stakeholder engagement will be required. The successful person/s will be offered a role as Business Partner - Environment, or Advisor - Environment and will be mainly based at our Thebarton site.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide knowledge, and support to facilitate environmental risk assessment and control while promoting a positive environmental culture across the business to support continual improvement in environmental performance in a complex organisation
- In collaboration with Operations, support the planning, delivery and reporting of environmental compliance performance and improvement strategies, initiatives, and activities
- Drive a culture of environmental stewardship and act as an advocate for excellence in environmental performance at all levels of the business
- Support the operations to engage, formally and informally, on environmental matters with regulatory, industry and community bodies
- Actively participate in the assessment of operational/production projects to assist operations to adequately consider environmental risk management and sustainability opportunities
- Contribute to the improvement of environmental incident and complaint management systems, ensuring, where appropriate, incidents are formally investigated and records maintained, including participating in or leading environmental incident investigations, which as times will require interstate travel
- Support to the business in implementation and maintenance of a centralised compliance obligations management system
- Contribute to the design, implementation and delivery of Group-wide environmental training
- Contribute to the development of Divisional and group-wide processes and procedures for the ongoing use of existing or new data management software modules or management systems that can be embedded in business operations
- Assist in the oversight and implementation of relevant regulatory obligations, standards, and procedures for environmental risk management
- Assist with the implementation and review of the Divisional environmental management system audits in collaboration with Corporate team.

**What you will need to succeed**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5-10+ years' experience in environmental management in a regulatory, heavy industry or infrastructure/construction environment
- Strong environmental regulation and compliance knowledge
- Knowledge in requirements and implementation of ISO 14001 EMS
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong decision-making ability and managing priorities to ensure delivery is achieved to a high standard
- Strong relationship building skills at all levels to build trust, influence change, encourage and Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage at all levels to achieve collaborative outcomes
- Additional certifications such as in auditing or project management and / or investigation methodology will be highly regarded.
