**THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The primary responsibilities of this role are the physical and chemical testing of pulp and paper mill samples for the purposes of process monitoring and control and final product quality control in the 24-hour (12-hour shifts - day/night) laboratory. In addition, this position is responsible for supervision of the transfer of bulk chemicals delivered to the mill which involves their safe unloading from a delivery tanker into storage tanks used in the manufacturing processes.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Safety conformance - conducts the required pre-checks for equipment prior to commencement of any test.
- Environmental conformance - correct disposal of laboratory waste as per VISY policies and procedures.
- Quality - ensure accurate testing of various quality characteristics for all in-process samples for correct process optimization.
- Productivity - handle unloading of bulk chemical deliveries and carry out paper testing with speed and accuracy in order not to cause delay in the winding operations.
- Maintain quality and production targets
- Cost - minimize retest (chemical cost), breakages (materials cost), and damage to major instruments or equipment.

**WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE TEAM?**

**Minimum requirements**:

- Year-12 or equivalent. Certified true copy of certificate is required.
- Chemistry or Science Graduate - will be advantageous.
- Experience in any manufacturing environment
- Laboratory experience
- Forklift license
- will be advantageous.
