The Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) serves the rule of law exclusively for the State.

About the team
- State and federal constitutional law;
- Public sector governance and integrity;
- Integrity body (including parliamentary) inquiries;
- Victoria's First Peoples, including Treaty; and
- Judicial review of administrative decisions.
- About the role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a lawyer with public law experience to join our team to assist in responding to the growing demand for our legal services. You will provide quality legal services to government clients and will have the opportunity to work on high profile public interest matters. The role offers a mix of litigation and advice work in complex public law matters relating to exercise and regulation of government powers. You will be part of a supportive, well-functioning team and be given opportunities to learn and grow as a lawyer at VGSO.
Skills and experience
- Proven ability to provide written and oral advice on public law (preferably including constitutional law)
- Experience conducting administrative and public law litigation matters
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to both work in a team and autonomously (under supervision)
- Enthusiasm for working in a government law office and on novel legal issues
- Experience in acting for government, local government or statutory authorities would be advantageous
