- Apr 12, 2023We are currently seeking a Learning Support officers to join a Catholic School in Melton, Melbourne, for a Full time or Part time, Ongoing positions starting in Term 2. Working hours 8:30am-4:30pm (Mon-Fri
- 38 hours per week).
The School places a large emphasis on the spiritual and academic growth of each student in a nurturing, supportive and caring faith-filled environment. The College offers a range of established wellbeing programs that are designed to develop our students' resilience, mindfulness and empathy. This commitment to wellbeing is central to learning and instils in our students a positive growth-mindset and the confidence to flourish beyond the school gates. Teaching staff are committed to developing learning programs, based on the Victorian Curriculum, that foster creativity, communication, critical thinking and collaboration.
**Responsibilities**:
- Monitoring the progress of students
- Liaising with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that students are receiving the support they need
- Providing emotional support and guidance to students who may be struggling with personal issues
- Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students
**Skills**:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to be able to explain complex topics to students and to communicate effectively with colleagues and parents
- Strong organizational skills to be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and to collaborate with teachers, other support staff, and parents
- Empathy and understanding of the challenges that students with disabilities may face
- Knowledge of learning difficulties and strategies to support students with different needs
- A commitment to ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field.
- Requirements:
- Certificate 4 in Education Support
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Experience in a Secondary setting advantageous
