In your new role, you will provide your team with overall guidance and leadership across the Structural Design Team. With your sound knowledge of Detailed Design and various processes improvement techniques, you will provide day-to-day line Management of a team of Detail Designers, Steel Detailers and Computer Aided Manufacturing specialists.

**Key responsibilities will be**:

- The management of Structural Detail Design capability to execute significant engineering packages of work on Hunter Class Frigate Program
- The continued growth and development of a competent production outputs capability at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in Adelaide, utilizing the programs core engineering toolset (e.g. FORAN, Windchill, AVEVA ERM, etc)
- The establishment of a self-reliant spatial integration capability, transferring best practices from BAE Systems UK Naval Ships, who will be responsible for delivering greenfield spatial integration on the Hunter Class Frigate
- The day to day line management and career development of a team of over 20 Detail Designers, Steel Detailers and Computer Aided Manufacturing specialists.
- Ensuring the quality of outputs produced by the Structural Detail Design meet agreed program targets
- Developing and/or maintaining Structural Detailed Design processes and procedures, across both production output generation and spatial integration, in order to ensure cost effective, repeatable and quality deliverables are produced
- Responsible for the identification of continuous improvement activities within own discipline to increase capability, efficiency, repeatability and quality
- Maintaining the alignment of the core Structural Detailed Design tools, processes, policies and methodology between BAE Systems UK Naval Ships & the BAE Systems Australia Maritime Acquisition.
- Extensive Detailed Design leadership experience, ideally within a shipbuilding or maritime sustainment environment, otherwise within heavy engineering (e.g. structural fabrication)
- Substantial leadership experience managing medium size teams
- The ability to support multiple stakeholders with competing priorities
- Minimum two-year Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree in Engineering
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated strong stakeholder engagement and management experience
- A focus on safety in the workplace
- Existing, or the ability to obtain, NV1 clearance and meet all require Export Control requirements
