**About Us**

Headquartered in Meelon, Western Australia, Fruitico is the states leading table grape grower. With farms in Meelon, Hamel, Broome and Carnarvon our mission is to grow the freshest and most flavoursome grapes possible.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join us on a full-time basis to take charge of our team of vineyard operators.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Vineyard Manager this position based in Hamel requires an efficient and hard-working person to supervise and work closely with the vineyard team to achieve the timely completion of all vineyard operations. You will be required to demonstrate the ability to think quickly on your feet, show initiative, be reliable and use your time effectively.

**Duties**:
Where indicated, in consultation with the Vineyard Manager
- Assist in the planning for the production of grape crops including soil preparation and the selection and planting of suitable varieties and clones and ensure that the preparation of vineyards is carried out according to requirements.
- Plan and organise canopy management including weed control, covering the vines and pre-pruning.
- Inspecting of vineyards for pests and diseases in vines and grapes and timely reporting
- Supervising a team responsible for spraying for pests and diseases.
- Inspect and undertake the repair and maintenance of fencing, trellises and irrigation systems.
- Ensure that vine health is maintained for optimum yield
- Supervise a team of vineyard operators carrying out leafing, thinning of vines in preparation for harvest.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of harvest operations - mechanical harvesting and pick up.
- Lead, motivate and direct farm labour ensuring the performance and discipline of employees and direct the training of new staff;
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders
- Supervise the operation of the operation of machinery on the farm and assist with the maintenance of the machinery.
- WH&S compliance and ensuring that all work activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and policies.

**Requirements**:

- At least two years experience with both the practical and technical aspects of vineyard operations as a supervisor
- Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team and autonomously
- Proven highly developed organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work hours under shift arrangements
- Chemical compliance certificate
- Driver’s licence
