Join the world's largest humanitarian movement and support migrants in transition
- Full time, max term role until 30 June 2025
- Hobart location
About Red Cross
Australian Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian movement. We support and empower people and communities in times of vulnerability. We act for humanity.
About the role
Working within Red Cross Migration Support Programs, Case Workers provide high quality, specialist casework support to migrants in transition and those who have experienced modern slavery and/or forced marriage. They provide individualised support to clients to identify strengths and needs and assist in setting and attaining identified goals. Case Workers also collaborate with other agencies and organisations to source appropriate support for clients.
In addition, Case Workers contribute to co-design practice and adapt and innovate ways of working in order to improve Red Cross’s response to the needs of migrants in transition.
About you
As an experienced Case Worker, you will possess sound technical knowledge and expertise in providing high quality, specialist casework support and case management. You’ll demonstrate experience in working with marginalised people in the community and engaging with people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds with respect.
**You will also have**:
- Demonstrated understanding of how to holistically assess complex client needs, including conducting risk assessments, and developing effective case plans and safety planning
- Proven ability to identify service gaps and manage complex cases within a context of competing priorities
- Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds who have experienced grief, loss, torture, and trauma and who experience ongoing safety risks
- A sound understanding of the social political issues and needs impacting migrants in transition (including people seeking asylum, trafficked people and people who have been forced into marriage).
- Application of knowledge, skills and experience in a variety of client practice approaches and frameworks
- Demonstrated effectiveness in contributing to interagency collaboration and ability to lead collaboration, advocate and network with internal and external stakeholders (who can include statutory and law enforcement agencies)
- Actively participates in reflective practice, supervision and demonstrates reflective casework principles
- Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and solve problems generally found in policies and practices
- Ability to build strong customer and client relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions. Take ownership and identify solutions rather than waiting for others to take the lead
- Well-developed interpersonal and written communication skills
Compliance Requirements
A valid Working with Children Check is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Benefits that act for you, while you act for humanity
**Financial wellbeing**: In addition to your salary, you can take advantage of salary packaging that could provide you with a great way to reduce the amount of tax you pay - and get more from your salary. You can salary package up to $15,900 for living expenses (such as rent, groceries, utility bills); up to $2,650 for holiday accommodation and meals when dining out; Novated car leases; superannuation and purchase additional annual leave.
**Health & Wellbeing**: You can tap into specialist advice for nutrition, sleep, resilience and mindfulness. And access guided meditation and other wellbeing programs.
**Work/Life Flexibility**: You can access flexible working arrangements, paid ‘Me’ day just for you and a wide range of other paid leave options
**Career development**: Access to ongoing learning, training, and development courses
Further information
This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 4. Salary from $85,145.84 + superannuation + access to salary packaging.
Applications must be submitted online prior to 11:55pm on 9 October 2024 to be considered for this role.
Red Cross strives to create a safe and inclusive culture with wellbeing at its centre. We embrace diversity and welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people with different lived experiences, abilities, gender, ethnicity, age, and sexual orientation. We are a child safe organisation with zero tolerance of any harm to children. Our vision is to be trusted as the leading humanitarian organisation making a genuine difference in the lives of people and communities.
