**The Division**

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan (ROM) division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

Network and Assets branch of ROM are leaders in the management of State-owned assets across Regional NSW. These include road, rail, ferry, property and heritage assets. Functions include asset management, network safety and reliability, project development and delivery, contract management and mobilisation, maintenance operations, strategic procurement as well as entry pathways for regional talent.

**The opportunity**

We have an outstanding opportunity for a **Category Manager** to join us in Regional and Outer Metropolitan Division of Transport for NSW to manage a number of Construction procurement categories. This is a Fixed term full-time opportunity until 31/07/2024. Though the base location for the role is Macquarie Park, we offer flexible working arrangements.

The Category Manager is responsible for strategically developing and executing category strategies that realise value for money and high service outcomes for the Regional Maintenance Delivery Branch and Asset Maintenance Division.

**What you will be involved in**
- Lead the development and delivery of strategic category management programs that are safe, sustainable and deliver whole of life efficiency to the organisation.
- Work collaboratively with internal colleagues to strategically plan, capture and deliver sustainable whole-of-life effectiveness and efficiencies benefits.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Branch by identifying and developing innovative solutions that improve productivity and enhance internal customer satisfaction.
- Monitor business activity and requirements, to keep the Branch informed of industry and category trends, risks, and opportunities.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

- Solid leadership skills leading, developing and managing performance of a Category team consist of Category Specialists and Procurement & Contract Officers.
- Extensive strategic procurement experience including end-to-end strategic sourcing activities (running tenders, tender assessments & contract management activities)
- Proven experience in producing contractual outcomes which deliver whole-of-life benefits.
- A customer-centric approach with a keen sense for the delivery of value to the communities we serve, you will be able to demonstrate highly developed stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to plan, prioritize and organize work while delivering on tight deadlines, have strong attention to detail, be customer focused, demonstrate drive and commitment, and have effective communication, negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the early identification and applied mitigation of procurement, commercial and financial risk.
- High level written and verbal communication and negotiation skills that deliver strengthened relationships with internal and external customers.
- Well-developed problem solving, analytical and change management expertise that has resulted in positive and productive outcomes.
- Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety; Environmental; and Quality Management Systems and requirements in an engineering environment.

**Salary and Benefits**

The salary for this position is USS Grade 10 ($132,148 to $144,415) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
