**The Role**

**Cyber Security Vulnerability Researcher**
Vulnerability research is a key corner-stone of cyber security and informs both offensive and defensive efforts. As a senior researcher, you will oversee a team of vulnerability research staff, ensure the end-to-end management of research programs and act as an escalation point for technical research matters (such as performing peer-review of research artefacts, investigating vulnerabilities or recommending new avenues or methods of research).

In addition, you will be the lead for advising the operational outcomes of this research and developing proof-of-concept exploits to demonstrate the cause-and-effect of compromised systems. This role will assist both offensive and defensive cyber operations and future capability development.

**Cyber Security Analysts**
Cyber security analysis is crucial to ensuring that insights are obtained across the intelligence cycle (covering data, information and intelligence), so that informed decisions can be made and appropriate actions are taken.
As a senior analyst, you will be responsible for mentoring junior analysts, ensuring that analytical priorities are met and that actions across the intelligence cycle are meeting operational needs.

In addition, you will be the point-of-contact for engaging with capability teams who provide the underlying collection, processing and enrichment platforms for the analytical workforce. You will also need to engage with mission areas to ensure that analytical output is fit-for-purpose and timely.

Various Branches within ASD are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Cyber Security Vulnerability researchers and Cyber Security Analysts to lead and provide support in a large number of projects.

**Cyber Security Vulnerability Researcher**
- Has an aptitude for solving problems through critical reasoning and structured testing methods,
- Has an interest in reverse engineering and vulnerability research (covering all-levels of system architecture),
- Has an awareness of software development lifecycle (covering vulnerability identification, through proof-of-concept and exploit development),
- Has experience with DecSecOps processes and iterative development concepts, and
- Is proficient with one or more development languages (e.g. Java, Rust, C++).

**Cyber Security Analysts**
- Has an aptitude for solving problems through critical reasoning and root-cause analysis,
- Has an interest in information analysis across a spectrum of activities (E.g. open-source, all-source, cyber threat intelligence, etc.),
- Can engage with a variety or stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) to determine their needs and ensure analytical output is fit-for-purpose, and
- Works collaboratively as part of a team.
