Key duties
- ** Installation**: Setting up new signalling systems or upgrading existing ones according to specifications and safety standards.
- ** Maintenance**: Conducting regular inspections, testing, and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper functioning of signalling equipment.
- ** Troubleshooting**: Identifying and diagnosing faults or malfunctions in signalling equipment and implementing appropriate repairs or adjustments to restore functionality.
- ** Testing and Commissioning**: Conducting thorough testing of signalling systems to ensure reliability and adherence to safety regulations before putting them into service. This includes commissioning new installations and verifying their performance.
- ** Documentation**: Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and testing results to track the history and performance of signalling equipment.
- ** Collaboration**: Working closely with other railway personnel, including engineers, supervisors, and operators, to coordinate signalling activities and ensure the safe and efficient movement of trains.

**Qualifications**
To perform the duties of a Signalling Technician, it is mandatory to possess the following certificates and licenses:

- Certificate IV in Electrical (Rail Signalling)
- Electrical License
- White Card

In addition, you will ideally also have:

- Experience as a Signalling Technician
- RIW Card (Rail Industry Worker Identification)
- C-class driver’s licence
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to use initiative

Please note, a Certificate III in Electrical is a pre-requisite to undertake the Certificate IV in Electrical (Railway Signalling).
