**About the unit and position**

This role is within the Scrutiny & Engagement business unit which is one of three business units in the Department.

The unit’s primary role is to ensure that Legislative Assembly Committees have optimal capacity and support to enable them to meet their accountabilities of fiscal, legislative and policy scrutiny; and to provide oversight of statutory agencies. The unit is also passionate about the public’s involvement in parliamentary activities and works to enhance public participation and engagement with the work of the Assembly.

Directors in this unit lead a number of small secretariat teams to support parliamentary committees in their work. In doing so, Directors build and maintain relationships with the Department’s key stakeholders and provide authoritative and timely advice on parliamentary law, procedure and protocol.
