THE ROLE

We are looking for a passionate researcher with a track record in wireless communications research or in a closely related discipline. The successful applicant will collaborate with our world-class research team and help lead exciting new research in the area of mm-wave wireless communications. There will be opportunities for supervision of postgraduate students as well.

The project will include communication-theoretic and probabilistic analysis, and practical engineering implementation constraints. The expected outcomes will be a new model of signal blockage, new methods of beam alignment, and a new architecture for mm-wave mobile broadband networks, and tools for network optimization, to ensure reliable coverage with network resources matched to user traffic requirements.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria:
- A PhD in a relevant field to the research project (eg. Electrical and Electronic Engineering)- A quality research record in wireless communications as evidenced by research publications in high quality international journals and conferences- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsExcellent knowledge of the field of communication theory- Experience with software packages such as Matlab- Commitment to collaborative research and teamwork.

Desirable Criteria:
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with a track record using applied probability in research work- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and the ability to work to deadlinesStrong knowledge of the field of information theory.

Salary Package: Level A Step 6(PhD) from $97,621 to $104,622 per annum, plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.

Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed term for 2 years
