The Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport to the student either fully or in part.

The program provides around 3,000 individual transport services through contracted service providers, free of charge to approximately 10,500 students across NSW in both government and non-government schools.

**About the role**

The role delivers a range of customer services and responds to general enquiries from parents, schools, contractors and ASTP Officers to assist in the achievement of outstanding outcomes for the business unit.

The role forms part of a broader team that provides an efficient, effective and safe transport service to students with disability for government and non-government schools across New South Wales. Working in different teams at different times may be required to ensure objectives are met across the range of ASTP responsibilities.

Duties of this role includes but is not limited to;
- Providing accurate information, as necessary, in a confidential, responsive, customer-focused manner.
- Records maintenance, electronic (HPRM8) and hard copy.

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
