Hays has partnered with this vital and progressive Federal Government client in searching for their new Agile Delivery Section Manager to aid in their vast scope of digital transformation strategy. The Department plays a key role in the environmental space, providing regulatory and schematic advice to aid in the fight against climate change.

**Your new role**

In your new position within a team of vibrant and socially conscious professionals you will manage and have oversight over the output, productivity and performance of an entire digital transformation section.

You'll get the chance to:

- Lead and manage Agile coaches, Product Managers, Release Train Engineers, Agile delivery teams
- Provide strategic direction and guidance for the Agile Delivery Section, contributing to outcomes of the branch and agency.
- Manage resource allocation for the Agile delivery section, including workforce planning across 10-15 multidisciplinary teams aligned to delivery plans and agency priorities.
- Ensure digital delivery aligns with agency priorities, meets user needs, is technologically sound, timely and affordable.
- Ensure digital staff understand their roles, are supported within their discipline, and work collaboratively to raise maturity and build culture.
- Coach and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Develop and implement Agile methodologies, processes, and practices to improve delivery and team performance
- Identify and manage risks and issues related to Agile delivery and take corrective action as needed
- Support the agency on its journey of digital transformation and digital maturity uplift.

**What you'll need to succeed**

Essential:

- A Baseline Security Clearance- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; OR-
- 10+ years of experience in software development (leading, managing or working within teams), with at least 5 years of experience in Agile development methodologies-
- Excellent written and verbal communication including development of briefs, executive presentations-
- Proven experience managing high-performing software development teams-
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (ideally SAFe and Scrum)-
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills- Desirable:
- Experience with Agile project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, etc.
- Certified qualifications (e.g. Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe certifications) are beneficial
- Experience managing large programs with competing priorities
