**The role**
Joining OA's Technical division, our Stage Mechanist will support and handle the construction and operations matters relating to the stage. Liaising with our internal departments as well as the Senior Mechanist Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the performance - your role will have an active part in ensuring the success and vision of the performance is achieved.
**Focus areas**
- Organise, set-up, and operate the staging elements of the performance with the help of your team
- Discuss actions and implementation of the actions required after attending production and staff meeting; communicating any issues or ideas to improve the plan
- Be confident with using power tools and hand tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Follow OA's Work Health and Safety policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the use of equipment and personal safety, identifying and reporting hazards, suggest ideas to improve WHS
**About you**
- 1-2 years' experience as a Mechanist
- Exposure to a theatre or live venue environment preferred but not required
- Excellent organisation and communication skills, written and verbal
- Demonstrate ability to work with creative and technical personnel and performers
- Remain flexible and adaptable
- Knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.
- Capable to carry out manual handling tasks and comfortable working at heights
- Practical knowledge on the operation of various stage machinery and construction hand tools
