**About the Role**

**_ This is a full time (70 hours per fortnight), closed period contract until June 2025. This role will be based on the Brunswick Heads in the Byron Shire._**

We are seeking a Community Engagement Worker to support and assist displaced community members from recent floods into long term accommodation within the Brunswick Heads Community Village.

As the Community Engagement Worker, your key focus will be to work alongside the community to identify issues and opportunities. You will engage community members in creating solutions and implementing initiatives in a culturally appropriate and meaningful way.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Work with individuals and community as a whole to assess strengths, needs and support needed for community led initiatives
- Provide a range of client engagement approaches that are flexible and responsive to community needs (attending meetings with Elders, tenant meetings, organising community events)
- Plan, and provide structure for the safety of community members and take immediate action inline with Uniting policy and procedures
- Deliver services to community members in line with the Brunswick Community Village Program goals
- Coordinate and follow through of activities and strategies identified by the community

**About you**
- Relevant qualification with Social Services with at least 3 years experience working with the community
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection and experience working within the child protection framework
- Demonstrated experience working Aboriginal children, young people and their families that is culturally appropriate and responsive
- Demonstrated ability to acknowledge and utilise the strengths of our clients, their family and community
- Ability to lead and coordinate short term casework
