Melbourne, Australia AGL Energy Full time

Join the change. Together, we’ll make history.

As we keep the lights on for over four million customers and move towards a more sustainable way of life, it’s an exciting time to be at AGL. We’re re-imagining how homes and business live and work across the country and we want you to be a part of it. This moment will define our time, and your career as you work alongside Australia's best and brightest minds. You’ll grow and learn in a collaborative, safe and supportive environment and play your part in changing the course of tomorrow.

Everyone at AGL is an important part of building a better energy future and we want you to join in.

About the Role:
AGL is in the process of closing our thermal power generation assets and replacing them with renewable energy and battery storage assets. We have targets of 5GW by 2030 and 12 GW by 2035. The Development & Analysis team is responsible for delivering a robust pipeline of projects to drive Australia’s energy market transition.

As the Power Development ESG Implementation Lead you will play a key role in implementing the Energy Hubs Major Projects Environmental, Social & Governance Framework across the team’s growing development project pipeline. The Energy Hubs ESG Framework has been developed to drive positive environmental and social outcomes through commitments across biodiversity support, waste minimisation, supply chain assessments, traditional owner engagement, local community support and others.

What you’ll be doing:

- Coordinate ESG Framework implementation activities at a portfolio level, whilst also providing guidance and support for ESG initiatives across the project pipeline
- Ongoing coordination of stakeholders to identify, align and close out ESG actions that impact projects across the development portfolio
- Documentation and knowledge sharing of processes needed for the ESG Framework implementation
- Manage the action register including prioritisation of a wide range of actions
- Engage and project manage consultants when external expertise is required
- Engage with industry and partners to understand best practice and relevant case studies that could benefit AGL projects

About You:
You will ideally be able to drive consistent adoption of the ESG framework across the Development & Analysis group, lead activities to fully operationalise implementation of the framework and communicate ESG progress across the portfolio. Your technical and commercial capability will be important, but ultimately your ability to turn concepts into workable solutions and influencing stakeholders will set you up for success.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Exposure to the development of large scale renewable generation projects (or equivalent complexity or size project) from concept to investment decision
- Project Management of internal and external stakeholders, including consultants
- Knowledge of ESG practices and operationalising ESG initiatives
- Delivering outcomes following stakeholder engagement including process mapping and outputs for the successful implementation
- Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- The ability to drive successful outcomes using effective change management practices
