**About the Role**

As the Curator, Prints, you will work with a team of specialist curators, collection managers, and engagement professionals to oversee the development, housing, preservation, safe handling, and provision of access to the rare and valuable materials that are held in the University’s Prints Collection.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Collaborating with collection management coordinators to oversee and support the physical access, safe storage, distribution, handling, movement, and loans of Prints Collection materials, adhering to cultural heritage care standards.
- Enhancing the visibility of Archives and Special Collections through a diverse program encompassing physical and digital displays, exhibitions, tours, talks, published resources, and social media.
- Conducting and supporting research on Prints Collection materials. Collaborating to identify strategic opportunities for enriching the collection by facilitating and publishing comprehensive interpretive and analytical resources through both physical and digital media.

**Who we are looking for**

We are seeking an experienced curator with significant knowledge of art history. You have a background in the development and delivery of exhibitions, access programs, and interpretive materials for diverse audiences, in particular students in an academic setting. You are able to utilise your strong communication skills to work collaboratively across a multifaceted organisation with a wide range of stakeholders.

You will also have:

- Post-graduate qualifications in Museum or Curatorial Studies, or a comparable blend of education and relevant experience.
- Tertiary qualification in Art History, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Experience working with historical art collections, especially print collections, and works on paper.
- Proficiency in handling cultural collections and familiarity with museum or cultural heritage practices.
- Experience in the development of cultural collections, including assessments of significance, value, and curatorial, educational, research, or engagement potential.
- Experience in catalogue maintenance and enrichment, condition reporting, use of collection management software, and an understanding of the core principles of strategic collection management.

Archives and Special Collections (ASC) develops, provides care for, and facilitates access to the University of Melbourne Archives, Rare Books, Prints, Rare Music, Maps, and East Asian collections. The department is led by the Associate Director, Archives and Special Collections, and University Archivist. The department sits within Research and Collection Stewardship, a sub-portfolio of Scholarly Services led by the Director and University Librarian.
