Our aim is to improve relationships and reduce stressors for inmates/transferees, so they feel cared for.

We are seeking a capable and motivated Learning & Resources Coordinator to support the team at Parklea Correctional Centre.

Our Learning & Resources Coordinator performs daily functional library activities such as ordering, cataloguing, classifying, circulating, and maintaining all library books, periodicals, and literature material. The Librarian is entrusted with making routine library decisions and provides assistance and guidance to inmates who access the library service.

**Some of the Learning & Resources Coordinator responsibilities are to**:

- Order, catalogue and classify library books, periodicals, and other literature materials
- Maintain a balanced collection of books, periodicals, and literature materials, appropriate to the needs of the inmates at PCC
- Maintain, organise, and supervise the circulation of library materials
- Maintain an assigned library area and ensure that library material is organised, displayed and readily available to inmates
- Implement a check-out procedure for library materials
- Conduct library inventories, including preparing, maintaining, and reporting on records pertaining to circulation and inventory
- Compile and report on statistics relating to library use
- Use and explain information tools in order to assist inmate in the effective use of library services.
- Interact/communicate professionally and courteously with all inmates and staff in order to promote safety, security and decency within the centre.
- Work effectively as a team member with other stakeholders.
- Willing to work professionally with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
- Develop programs and initiatives that encourage inmates to take advantage of library services and improve their reading and comprehension skills.

**Skills & Experience**:
The following key experiences and skills are desirable in relation to this position and would include but not be limited to:

- A Library Technician qualification or similar is required (mandatory)
- Adherence to the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) Code of Ethics for Librarians and other Information Workers (IFLA 2012) is advantageous
- Must obtain and maintain a First Aid accreditation in the form of a current Statement of Attainment for HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
- Must meet the physical requirements of the role and pass a functional fitness and health assessment; due to the demands of the role, applicants who consume alcohol excessively, abuse prescription drugs or consume illicit substances are unsuitable

Desirable qualifications:
Demonstrated previous experience of working at a similar role is necessary.
