At TOMRA we are all about Clean Loop Recycling Our reverse vending technology enables the collection of used drink containers to ensure that containers have the best chance of being turned back into containers again. It is part of a continuous recycling process which we call Clean Loop Recycling, to ensure that fewer resources are used, less energy is wasted, and containers do not end up in our oceans, streets, or landfill. We’re proud to be collecting containers across Australia, with over 320 collection points across NSW. In addition, we have state-of-the-art Recycling Centres in Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and Victoria.

The Database Expert creates new and optimises existing recognition databases based on TOMRA Collections different Reverse Vending Machines (RVM’s) types and ways of handling beverage containers to ensure high acceptance rates and customer satisfaction.
You will be required to work closely with the Product Experts, Field Teams, the internal Loss Prevention team and external stakeholders such as the Scheme Coordinators.
Data obtained from Scheme Coordinators and gathered from the RVMs installed in the market will also need to be analysed.
Travel to various RVMs on site in NSW and interstate will be required for this role
- Build an understanding of TOMRA Collection Australia’s product portfolio
- Build a comprehensive understanding of the RVM hardware and software, especially the RVM recognition process
- Become the local bottle database expert - compile, maintain and test market-specific recognition database. Ensure this is done in accordance with the appropriate legislation and TOMRA’s contractual obligations
- Analyse data obtained from Field Teams/ TOMRA staff, Scheme Coordinators/ EPA and gathered from RVMs - suggest, develop, test and implement performance improving actions
- Liaise with Scheme Coordinators and the EPA to have products registered and/or changes implemented in a timely manner
- Work closely with the internal Loss Prevention team to understand control measures implemented, and to find a balance between minimising fraud but optimising acceptance rates
- Conduct on-site inspections nationwide to identify containers missing from the database
- Act as the escalation point for database-related queries or requests regarding and resolve issues that may arise
- Create and maintain recognition database documentation
- Create monthly reports to highlight network performance (acceptance rates) for the various markets
**Qualifications** What makes a great Database Expert at TOMRA**:
- Experience in Technical Customer Support
- Programming knowledge (Python, VBA, SQL) would be beneficial
- Previous experience in using Salesforce or other CRM would be beneficial
- Qualification in Information Technology or equivalent beneficial but not necessary
- Strong data analysis capabilities
- Proven technical capabilities
- Detailed-orientated
- Ability to learn and adapt to new and complex concepts
- Solution and results driven
- Good communication skills
- Good time-management skills
