Organisation: The Royal Women's Hospital
**Salary**: Salary not specified
Occupation: Health and Allied Health, Medical, Nursing
Reference: 25012
**Mental Health Consultation Liaison Clinician/ CL Psychiatry nurse ( **2 positions)**
**Seeking to appoint 1x parttime role (2 days per week)**
The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of newborns and women of all ages. To join the Women’s is to be instrumental in forging progress towards health equity for women from ground-breaking research through to the bedside delivery of multi-disciplinary clinical care. Creating exceptional experiences is at the heart of everything we do for our patients, their families, and our people across our specialised services within maternity, neonatal and women’s health.
**About Social Model of Health**
The Social Model of Health Division at the Women’s has responsibility for ensuring the hospital’s clinical and social support services are coordinated, aligned and leveraged to provide wrap around care for the women who need it most. In particular, the division has a focus on ensuring a woman’s social, economic, cultural, environmental, geographic, and other factors are taken into account in her care plan with the overall aim of reducing health inequalities and addressing systemic inadequacies that affect health access and outcomes.
Informed by a strong evidence base, the Social Model of Health Division works to ensure the Women’s can offer a continuum of care approach depending on the complexity of each women's clinical presentation and social circumstances. The division plays a key role in guiding and supporting a number of specialist services aswell as providing state-wide leadership and advocacy on a number of issues in this space.
This is a newly formed division bringing together a number of established and critical clinical and social services including;
- Women’s Mental Health Service
- Social Work
- Badjurr-Bulok Wilam - our Aboriginal Health Liaison Service
- Family Accommodation
- Spiritual Care
- Women’s Alcohol and Drug Services
- A range of highly specialised services focused on violence _against women_, including the Strengthening Hospital Response to Family Violence program, the Centre Against Sexual Assault service and the Sexual Assault Crisis Line
- The Cornelia Project, a new multi-agency service focused on providing residential care to homeless mothers and babies
With strong linkages and partnerships across the hospital and with several universities and research leaders, there is future scope to influence the research agenda across the Women’s and elsewhere, and to draw upon the considerable in-house expertise to raise profile and awareness of this important work.
**Your contribution**
In this role you will be a critical member of Women's Mental Health Service (WMHS) alongside a small team of psychiatrists and psychologists. The WMHS is located within the Social Model of Health (SMOH) Division and we work closely with our other SMOH colleagues. This role requires you to be a pivotal member of the Women's Mental Health team. The role triages all Outpatient referrals from and ensures that women are appropriately connected with either internal mental health services or external providers for management/treatment/support of their current mental health issue. the Clinician will provide support to staff round the care of complex inpatient and outpatient presentations and is activelyinvovled in education for our non mental health colleagues.
In the future it is envisaged that this role, in partnership with the Social Work team, will develop and implement a system of triage across psychiatry, psychology and social work channeling referrals to the most appropriate psychosocial clinician (mental health or social work). The position offers an exciting opportunity for the incumbent to assist with the development of new systems of multidiciplinary care across the Social Model of Health Division.
**About you**
