The Pain Management Provisional Fellow position serves to provide training in Pain Management in preparation for completing requirements for attaining Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine. Its main purpose is to provide training and clinical exposure in acute, chronic and cancer pain management with the opportunity to gain procedural skills as well as experience in psychology based treatments. It is expected that the doctor will aim to fulfil the requirements of their advanced training and proceed to attaining FFPMANZCA.

**What you'll be doing**
- Attending and assisting at Pain Management Outpatient Clinics, Acute Pain rounds, Palliative Care clinics, Drug and Alcohol clinics, Operating sessions and case discussions.
- Provide pain management services to in-patient referrals and other consultations.
- Contributing to the research, teaching and quality assurance activities of the Nepean Pain Unit.
- Assist in teaching medical students assigned to the Nepean Pain Unit.

**Where you'll be working**
- The Nepean Pain Unit is a tertiary level multi-disciplinary clinic which sees approximately 300 new patients a year. There are five specialist pain physicians, physio, OT and psychology services.
- The clinic provides cognitive behavioural based group therapy, interventional procedures and ward based consultations.
- There are strong working relationships with Drug and Alcohol and Palliative Care specialists and the opportunity to attend clinics in these disciplines.

**Essential requirements**
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
- Completion (or expected to complete within 6 months) requirements for a primary specialist qualification acceptable to the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
- Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

**Selection criteria**
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
- Completion (or expected to complete within 6 months) requirements for a primary specialist qualification acceptable to the Faculty of Pain Medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
- Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development, self-education, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
