**About the position**

MLC School Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned to the MLC School Learning and Teaching Framework of MLC School. The position of Head of Composition is responsible for the overall direction of teaching and learning of music composition at MLC School.

**Selection Criteria**:
As a Music Teacher, you will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:

- Planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs that foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of students, confirming that the programs cater for the learning needs and wellbeing of all students;
- Planning, designing and delivering differentiated learning programs that address variations in learning styles and ability levels;
- Incorporating the appropriate use of ICT and related technologies into your teaching practice to enhance student learning in the classroom;
- Teaching Music lessons and supporting the MLC School girl to achieve outstanding results;
- Delivering service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging with and responding promptly and courteously to enquiries and requests for information;
- Ongoing development of classroom practice and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning

The Head of Composition has additional responsibility for:

- Responsible for writing and implementing guidelines for senior school composition. This is framed in terms of two major strands Higher School Certificate (HSC) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
- Liaise with the Director of Music (DoM) regularly on the coordination of performance and composition activities.
- Liaise regularly with the Assistant Director of Music regarding scope, sequence and integration of composition into the classroom program.
- Ensure all Board of Studies (BoS) and IB requirements are being met as related to composition program (in consultation with Assistant Director of Music).
- Liaise with the Director of Music and guide the overall direction of new music performances, commissions of new works and programming of Australian content.
