About the opportunity

The role of the Lived Experience Worker (Consumer) has been developed for people who have a lived experience. You will have been directly connected with mental health service provision as a consumer of mental health service. This position provides support to consumers, for a period of up to 3 months, following a suicide attempt. The HOPE team actively engage clients in the assessment of their own suicide risk and actively contribute to their suicide prevention plan in order to minimize the risk of attempting suicide in the future. The HOPE team will work in a manner that encourages and invites consumer and family participation, and promotes self
- determination. The Lived Experience Worker (Consumer) will work collaboratively with the HOPE team and other members of the Lived Experience Workforce across Mercy Mental Health, to engage and provide support through range of mediums which includes outreach, telehealth and site-based work.

Qualifications:
Current unrestricted driver’s license

Minimal 2 years' experience working as Lived Experience Worker (consumer)

Working towards or willing to work towards peer specific training (i.e. Intentional Peer Support, training in other relevant mental health and suicide specific areas.)
