**What You Will Be Doing**

The Lived Experience Workforce (LEW) is an integral component of the Peninsula Health Mental Health Service (PHMHS). It comprises of different lived experience roles including Consumer and Family/Carer Consultants, Consumer and Family/Carer Peer Workers, specialist project roles and leadership and management.

The Carer Consultant role has been developed specifically for someone with a personal experience of caring for someone with mental health challenges or distress and recovery. The incumbent will contribute a carer lived experience perspective within PHMHS committees, consultations, focus groups and other relevant meetings to champion the lived experience voice and enhance service outcomes for consumers, families, carers and supporters.

The Carer Consultant will also provide PHMHS carers with information, advice and support to navigate the mental health system with the aim of enhancing carer outcomes. This support will be provided in conjunction with other LEW roles, such as family carer peer workers, depending on the individual’s needs.

The Carer Consultant will also promote and provide engagement opportunities for carers to partner with Peninsula Health around the planning, design, delivery and evaluation of mental health services.

This position will support the implementation of the Consumer Carer Feedback Loops pilot initiative.

- Ability to share lived experience to support the work of PHMHS and ensure practice is sensitive to the needs of families, carers and supporters
- Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships (internally and externally)
- Experience using Microsoft Office
