About the opportunity
We have exciting permanent opportunities for 2 Investigators to join ESV's Investigations Team within the Legal, Governance and Regulatory Policy Division.
**You will contribute by**:
- Planning, conducting and reporting on investigations regarding breaches or contraventions of the Electricity Safety Act, Gas Safety Act, Pipelines Act, Energy Safe Victoria Act, and associated legislation.
- Provide timely investigative responses and co-ordinating effective initial action regarding serious energy incidents, including scene attendance and preservation, where required.
- Contributing to an effective and supportive work environment through mentoring, participation in education and training programs, and supporting the overall professional development of team members.
- Providing timely advice to senior managers and other relevant stakeholder on trends, systemic issues and ongoing investigations.
- Contributing to strategic planning, policy development, and internal guidance for investigations and disciplinary action to support the achievement of team objectives and continuous business improvement.
- Working collaboratively with other agencies or authorities and, where appropriate, refer matters to them under the relevant jurisdictional law.
**To be successful, you'll have**:
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent qualifications in investigations
- Experience working as an Investigations Officer
- Demonstrated incident response experience, including site attendance and management, evidence collection and preservation, and liaising with third parties (including other agencies or authorities).
- Knowledge of the Victorian energy safety legislative framework (or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge).
- Demonstrated ability to conduct complex regulatory assessments informed by legislation, policy frameworks, and evidence.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality reports and briefs.
- The ability to work autonomously, but also collaboratively and effectively as a team member.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders; anticipating, and responding to their needs, and nurturing productive working relationships.
