**Your role**:
Be a part of history, working with conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines. This game-changing capability provides superior stealth, speed and range that meet Australia’s long-term defence needs.
As a Nuclear Submarine Officer, you will oversee day-to-day operations including everything from communications and navigation to armament, and tactical deployment of the submarine. Your typical day could see you in charge of any of the following:
- Nuclear reactor and nuclear propulsion system operations
- Onboard weapons systems management
- Atmosphere control and fire control systems
- Driving the vessel and charting its position
- Communications and intelligence equipment operation
Your training will first equip you with technical expertise in nuclear propulsion, the platform, and its equipment. You will then move into your submarine qualification and oversee day-to-day operations, and you could one day lead the entire crew as Commanding Officer.

**Salary**:
Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you’ll enjoy a salary package starting from $113,239.
For this role, you must be over 17 at time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, have completed Year 12 and obtained a high enough entrance rank to qualify.
