English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) are one of a range of preparatory, enabling and credit-based programs offered by the University’s Pathways and Academic Learning Support Centre (PALS). Our mission is to provide excellence in teaching and learning based on research informed approaches that enable students to transition into and through university with strong foundations and support. The ELICOS team work collaboratively to deliver programs for international students who have met the academic requirements of their destination program with the University of Newcastle but have narrowly missed the English language requirements.

**The Role**

In this role you will:

- Play a role in building the future of the Centre’s international pathways; designing and delivering courses and services that embrace blended teaching and learning and result in engaging and flexible learning opportunities.
- Passionately support students to become independent in their learning.
- Be committed to a student-centered approach, harnessing collaboration with colleagues to provide inspiring courses and outstanding learning experiences for international and domestic students.

These fixed term positions are full time until May 2024 and will be located on Awabakal land, at the Callaghan Campus.

- Demonstrate experience as an English language teacher, with a passion for innovation and blended learning.
- Show how you continuously strive to create a collegial culture and are committed to learning that is active and student focussed.
- Be passionate about designing learning experiences that are relevant and engaging, and have a nuanced understanding of best practice approaches to teaching English for academic purposes to international pathway students.
- Hold the relevant qualifications for ELICOS teaching including a recognised degree or equivalent and a recognised TESOL qualification; or a recognised degree in education with TESOL method.

**How will we support you?**

The remuneration for this position is from $67,167 - $100,012 + 17% superannuation.

- Experience and demonstrated ability in providing high-quality English language and literacy education experiences, including experience delivering lessons in blended and online modes.
- Demonstrated course and assessment design skills, including the development and evaluation of assessment tools, and learning objects for blended and/or online modes.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues, in interdisciplinary teams and with diverse stakeholders.
