**The Opportunity**:
This role will see you working in a close-knit team of Student Counsellors, providing one on one, confidential support to students. Duties include:

- Provide culturally informed psycho-social counselling services, information and resources to students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
- Participate in regular case management and peer review processes and identify recurrent client management issues.
- Contribute to the achievement of Counselling Service Operational Plans which includes planning and implementing workshops, training programs and individual counselling.
- Provide advice and recommendations as required on matters involving counselling activities or the personal wellbeing of students, particularly where urgent action is required e.g. crises.
- Liaise with faculties and schools to establish sustainable preventative programs to assist students to manage their mental health and developing resilience.
- Maintain strong collegial working relationships with staff within the Student Support Services Directorate, across the university, and with relevant external bodies.
- Observe university record management and privacy policies in the collection and maintenance of data and contribute to reporting as required.
- Participate in and contribute to strategic projects to enhance students' personal and social adjustment to university, as requested by the National Manager, Counselling.

**Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:

- Full registration with AHPRA) as a psychologist, or current full membership with AASW, or full clinical membership of the PACFA, or minimum level 3 with ACA.
- Valid Working With Children Check.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative, ethical and practice requirements e.g. confidentiality, privacy, anti-discrimination, and mandatory reporting.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Knowledge and understanding of the broader service system and demonstrated capacity to facilitate appropriate and effective referrals as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate groups and/or training and development workshops, particularly with an outreach focus.
- Experience - Proven ability to work autonomously, and effectively as a member of a team, with high levels of accountability.
- Capacity to balance outreach programs with the provision of individual counselling services.
