**Description**:
**About the role**:
The Head Cleaner will perform cleaning activities as well as supervise and manage a small team of cleaners to ensure the venue is maintained to an excellent standard, ensuring it provides a professional impression to all visitors, parents, patrons and staff.

The Head Cleaner will ensure that high standards of hygiene and cleanliness of buildings are maintained, assisting with day-to-day activities that maintain our facilities in a safe and functional order with excellent presentation.

The Head Cleaner will be responsible for overseeing the work activities of cleaners at the venues that Geelong Arts Centre manages, establishing cleaning schedules and assigning duties. The Head Cleaner will also be responsible for establishing cleaning standards and procedures for cleaners, maintaining and ordering cleaning supplies and equipment, monitoring the usage of cleaning chemicals and materials and ensuring that workplace health and safety measures are adhered to at all times.

**Skills and Experiences**:
Essential qualifications and experience

**To be successful in this position, you will have**:
Proficient technology skills, including Microsoft suite, time and attendance software, including familiarity with QR code end of shift reporting.
Excellent customer service skills.
Demonstrable skills in leading and motivating a team.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Developing and managing staff rosters and cleaning schedules across the team.

Desirable qualifications and experience

Recent cleaning experience in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets, (MSDS), general OHS requirements for safe cleaning.
Experience working in an Arts and/or Government organisation or event cleaning.

Special requirements

Flexibility in working hours to support morning, evening, and weekend work will be required as part of the normal hours of duty for this position.
The following checks, licences and certifications are required as a condition of employment for this role:
Current and valid Working with Children’s Check (employee)
Completion of CHCCCS019 Recognise and respond to crisis situations, or equivalent, to perform as a mental health first aider primarily to the cleaning team. Training will be provided by Geelong Arts Centre.

The employee must provide evidence that they hold current certifications prior to commencing employment with Geelong Arts Centre. The employee must maintain currency of these checks, licences and certifications for the duration of their employment with Geelong Arts Centre.
