**Position Information**:
Northlakes High School is an inclusive, comprehensive government secondary school on the NSW Central Coast. The anticipated 2024 enrolment is 875. There are strong links to the community, Muru Bulbi AECG, the Wallarah Learning Community of Schools and local universities.

The school caters for the learning and wellbeing needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including low socio
- economic status. 19% of students identify from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island background and 6% identify as having a non-English speaking background. There will be ten classes in 2024 supporting students with a range of disabilities based within the Adaptive Learning Centre and Twinlakes Centre.

Northlakes High School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school and is utilising PBL and a successful house system to devise engagement strategies and improve student wellbeing. There is a large focus placed on teacher professional learning, Quality Teaching, and use of data to inform planning and programming. Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) was introduced as a core program in 2015 and has since been implemented school-wide. Stage 4 students are taught collaboratively to increase student engagement and successful transition to high school.

The Learning Support, Welfare, PBL and Careers and Transition teams support students' learning, vocational and social needs, with an emphasis on respect, responsibility and personal best. The school offers an extensive curriculum which includes VET and Life Skills courses, and collaborates with universities, TAFE and industry and community groups. Aboriginal students are supported through the Muru Bulbi Learning and Engagement Centre, with tutoring and access to a range of cultural activities, mentoring and other programs. The school continues to strengthen positive relationships with its parent body and the whole school community.

Highly developed leadership skills to support and supervise staff at faculty level building a positive and productive team with the capacity to develop innovative programs for students of all abilities, including leading the implementation of the new syllabuses in the Technology and Applies Studies Key Learning Area.

Capacity to implement and lead innovative strategies for meeting the challenges of a diverse range of students learning needs including students from low socio-economic status communities, students with disabilities, gifted and talented and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Ability to work as a dynamic member of the executive team and lead initiatives to achieve the school’s strategic directions both across the school and within the context of the Technology and Applied Studies faculty.

Capacity to work collaboratively as a highly visible member of a leadership team that supports students to complete courses in vocational education and training.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
