**About the Role**

Theatre technicians are an integral part of the operating room team. Providing support to the surgical and nursing staff to ensure positive patient outcomes are achieved. The position depending on the level of competency and skill set is responsible for:

- Transporting patients to and from the operating room
- Positioning and preparation of patients for surgery
- Setting up each operating theatre with specialty/surgery specific equipment
- Ensuring all equipment is functioning and correctly maintained
- Cleaning of equipment in accordance with Monash Health and manufacturers guidelines

Whilst ensuring patient safety, the theatre technician is required to assist and support the surgical and nursing operating team by ensuring all the necessary equipment is available and operational and patients are safety positioned and prepped for surgery. The Theatre technician provides efficient, high quality care in patient focused environment through effective and committed teamwork.

**About You**

Technical skills/ knowledge / experience:

- Performs role without direct supervision but under indirect guidance from a Grade 4 or above Undertakes work of a more complex nature rotating through all surgical and clinical specialities.
- Minimum 12 months experience as a Theatre Technician and has a Theatre Technician Qualification

Additional skillset requirements:

- Basic computer skills, Outlook, Word
- Capability to undertake work of a more complex nature with an ability to rotate through all areas of the department (classification dependant)
- Sound organisational skills
- Effective and strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Supportive of organisational change
- Demonstrates ongoing education and clinical development
- Flexibility
- Capacity to work autonomously (classification dependant) as well as under supervision and within a team
- Willing to participate in on the job training and/or specific skills training as required
- Professional work ethic
