- Full-time, Fixed Term position until June 2025- Salary Academic Level B ($102,474 - $121,690) + 17% Superannuation- Based at the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) Fishermans Bend
About the Role
The successful applicant will use CFD to study of the formation of wake structures and understand the hydrodynamic and hydroacoustic implications for maritime platforms. The work will include designing and carrying out CFD studies to validate against experimental measurements of flow-field and loads data of maritime platforms. The successful applicant will also be expected to engage in international collaborative benchmarking exercises.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:- Evidence of scientific research publications in the field fluid dynamics using CFD.-
- Demonstrated experience validating and/or benchmarking CFD for Maritime Platforms.- Demonstrated experience using CFD in High Performance Computer environments (parallelisation, parametric studies).- Proven ability to work autonomously and in teams to meet project outcomes, milestones, deadlines and to manage workloads and respond to changing priorities, as required.- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate to stakeholders through presentations and written reports that convey scientific and engineering outcomes.- Ability to co-supervise postgraduate-by-research students in the field of fluid dynamics.
**Qualifications**:
Mandatory: An honours degree in Maritime, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in Computational Fluid Dynamics with experience using RANS desirable. Recent completion of a PhD or equivalent experience.
