**Why Your Role Matters**
The Program focuses on seven key themes: Artificial Intelligence, Assessment and Feedback (our two key areas of focus at this stage), as well as Diversity and Inclusion, Belonging and Wellbeing, Learning Technologies and Digital Literacy, Societal Impact, and Work Integrated Learning and Industry Relevant Learning. The **Education-Focussed Academic - Nexus Program (internally called Nexus Fellow)** will support the Pro Vice Chancellor Education (PVCE) in planning and implementing university-wide education initiatives related to these themes.
This role reports to Director, Nexus and has no direct reports. This is a fixed term contract until the end of December 2026.
**Main responsibilities Summary**
The tasks for this role are divided into two key areas: strategy work which will take the majority of the successful person’s time as well as professional development and training for their peers. Overall, you will be expected to:
- Contribute to colleagues’ professional development in pedagogy, educational technology, emerging teaching practices and scholarly approaches to teaching through faculty and UNSW programs & initiatives
- Demonstrate leadership and positively influence educational culture and community across Faculties
- Undertake research related to teaching and learning, including in relation to SoTL
- Analyse and collate key research findings on learning and teaching for dissemination internally
- Contribute to the development of strategies, policies and procedures relating to learning and teaching
- Collaborate with colleagues and other Nexus Fellows in the faculties to implement new local and institution-wide initiatives that seek to improve learning & teaching
This position can be either Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer), based on your experience, academic leadership, and responsibilities. The job description at the bottom of the ad outlines the tasks and duties for both levels.
**Who You Are**
We are looking for someone who understands and is excited about UNSW’s vision and values, and who comes equipped with:
- A PhD, ideally in a relevant discipline (but not essential - we welcome people coming from various PhD disciplines)
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills, including the ability to influence others and drive change
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, academic excellence, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
- Experience using artificial intelligence and/or designing learning or assessment activities in the context of artificial intelligence to enhance learning and student experience, with an emphasis on innovative assessment approaches
- Experience in assessment and/or feedback design and/or improvement
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and a passion for educational excellence (e.g., relevant discipline
- based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute to the Scholarship of Teaching of Learning (SoTL). Ideally, you’ll have prior experience in writing/publishing in SoTL
- A current Work with Children Check
The role operates Monday to Friday, business hours. Flexible working arrangements are available.
