About the OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as Shipyard Business Risk and Compliance Lead within our Maritime Sustainment line of business.
You will be responsible for management and operational oversight to meet legislative requirements in the areas of strategic, compliance (regulatory), operational, and reputational risk and achieve best practice in Risk Management and Compliance within the BAE Systems Australia Henderson jurisdiction.
This role will be based out of our Henderson Shipyard in WA. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
**Key responsibilities will include**:
- Initiating and coordinating the policy review process, including maintenance of the Operational Risk register, Business Impact Analysis, governance and compliance documentation
- Reviewing and improving procedures based on key legislative changes, including change management to ensure updates are communicated and embedded
- Provide technical and schedule risk feedback to the operations management team
- Keeping up to date on legal and/ or regulatory changes that may impact on the Business Risk and make recommendations where existing policies and procedures may require review
- Revising and maintaining documentation to ensure on-going accreditation compliance
- Advising on, developing, implementing and maintaining relevant policies, procedures, frameworks, plans, forms and templates to ensure legislative, regulatory and registration compliance across the High Risk areas of Business Risk and Compliance
- Review and assess high risk work activities, ensuring key controls are in place and/or identify areas for improvement
- Conducting work place inspections and participating in audits
- Maintain operational Business Risk Register, ensuring sufficient controls are in place
About YOU
**You'll have**:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, safety, risk and compliance or other related field, along with demonstrated experience with management oversight and best practice standards in portfolio areas of safety, risk management, governance and compliance
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, incident management, undertaking complex investigations and preparing comprehensive reports and recommendations preferably in a maritime and/ or defence environment
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills; adept at multidisciplinary teamwork
- Experienced understanding of legal frameworks and key documentation
- Experience in integration, verification and validation of legal/regulatory requirements
- Certification or relevant training in risk management (highly desirable)
- Sound written and verbal communication skills for reporting, collaboration and effective stakeholder engagement
- Computer literacy with intermediate knowledge of MS Suite along with SharePoint (desirable)
