About the role

As an integral member of our team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of TESOL and literacy units at undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to the Institutes research programs and administrative functions.

You will:
- develop, teach, coordinate and moderate units in TESOL and literacy;- undertake teaching and assessment of students;- undertake relevant research activities; and- participate in team projects.

In addition at Level B you will:
- supervise students undertaking project units and honours courses; and- supervise research higher degree students.

About you

You will work as part of the institute’s team of academic and administrative staff. You will possess proven educational, research and professional experience and seek to embed long and short-term research strategies for the Institute within the strategic framework of the University and in accordance with its mission. You will be a creative thinker and avid problem-solver, who possesses initiative, innovation and a can-do attitude.

At Level A you will possess:
- lecturing and tutoring experience in the area of TESOL and literacy;- a capacity to teach units in student workshops in the English Language Support Service, and Master of Specialist Teaching (TESOL);- a preparedness to undertake research and a capacity to develop an active research profile in the field of TESOL; and- a preparedness to undertake postgraduate studies in TESOL and literacy (or a related area) if such a qualification is not already held.

At Level B you will possess:
- commitment to scholarship and a potential for academic advancement;- demonstrated commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching, and a good teaching record;- previous experience in academic administration, including the administration of units; and- evidence of research expertise and a demonstrated capacity and preparedness to achieve an active research profile in the field of TESOL.
