**About the opportunity**
As Australia Post embarks on significant reforms, known as modernisation, the need for timely, impactful and effective engagement with Parliamentary stakeholders has never been more critical.
The Government Engagement Manager (12 Month Fixed Term Contract) is responsible for assisting in building understanding of reforms with Parliamentary stakeholders and assisting to manage re-active engagement. The role will also monitor and assesses emerging issues, including within the Parliamentary process, and implement strategies to mitigate reputational risk.
This position may require some interstate travel and can be based in either Brisbane or Melbourne.
**You’ll be **responsible** for**:
- Monitoring the passage of Modernisation reforms through Parliament.
- Monitoring public discussion of Modernisation from Parliamentarians to identify any emerging risks.
- Proactively and reactively engaging with parliamentary stakeholders in support of modernisation. This includes drafting correspondence to and from Parliamentarians and coordinating visits to facilities.
- Supporting the team to implement stakeholder communication and engagement plans with Parliamentarians.
- Assisting in the preparation of meeting briefs for internal representatives such as CEO, Executive General Manager, General Manager and Head of.
- Supporting the delivery of engagement activity to inform, influence and inspire Parliamentary stakeholders and their constituents.
- Proactively developing and maintaining strong internal relationships to collaborate and share knowledge.
- Contributing to the protection and enhancement of Australia Post’s brand and reputation in conjunction with other teams, including the Internal Communications, Media, Community and Stakeholder, Social Media, Marketing and Corporate Responsibility teams.
- Championing the One Australia Post approach, focusing on safety & wellbeing, and putting the customer at the forefront of all activities and decisions

**About you**
You are organised, efficient, adaptable and have a solution-focused attitude. You’re inquisitive, proactive, eager to get stuff done, and enjoy building strong relationships with team members and stakeholders across the business.
**You’ll also need**
- 2+ years in Government Relations / Corporate Affairs / Ministerial adviser / political office / industry association / think tank.
- Demonstrated understanding of and/or interest in political and regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing clear communications materials such as briefs, memos, letters, and plans for specific audiences.
- Ability to communicate complex information simply to a wide range of audiences.
- An ability to juggle competing demands and priorities; and balance strategic and tactical priorities to deliver outcomes.
- Proven ability to mediate across multi-functional or multi-discipline teams in order to achieve agreed objectives.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to gain the cooperation and trust of colleagues.
