**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking to recruit a motivated, reliable, and adaptive BMS Controls Technician within the Property Services Branch - Maintenance Services.

Maintenance Services is the maintenance authority for Parliament House and is responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the building's structure, fabric, finishes, landscape, and all engineering services such as air-conditioning, power, lighting, hydraulic services, and metering.

As part of the BMS Controls Team, the successful applicant will be required to contribute to the overall service delivery function of the Business Unit including, but not limited to, participating in a wide variety of maintenance and installation activities, training, and other physical tasks. You will be required to work with a wide variety of clients, internal and external to DPS, and in a dynamic work environment with frequently changing priorities and deadlines. The Technical Officer positions within BMS Services are primarily responsible for the programming, maintenance and repair of the Building Management Systems (BMS) including HVAC control, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), associated plant/equipment as well as various stand-alone systems in Parliament House.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience in building maintenance environments.
- Demonstrated technical abilities in a wide variety of control, electronic repair, fault finding diagnostics and maintenance tasks/fields.
- Ability to work at heights, have confined space entry certification or be able to undertake training for this and other similar requirements.
- Willingness to work within flexible work requirements including, but not limited to, shift work, on-call and some weekend work as required and within current and any future Enterprise Agreement/ Certified agreement requirements. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, have relevant qualifications and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance.

Relevant and recognised qualifications relating to one or more of the following fields:

- Building Management and Process controls systems (Operations, repair/maintenance)
- Building Security devices and control (Operations, repair/maintenance)
- HVAC, Lighting, Energy Management and Control Systems (Operations, repair/maintenance) Energy management and control.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 6 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Undertake programming for the following automation and monitoring systems & equipment including,
a) Building Management System Supervisors (BMS Supervisors)
b) Remote Telemetry Units (RTU)
c) Direct Digital Controllers (DDC)
d) Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
e) Intelligent field equipment e.g. Actuators, Sensors, Variable Speed Drives, etc.
f) Building Control Networking and Protocols.
- Carry out fault finding on building automation and monitoring systems, and support trade-staff in plant maintenance activities.
- Develop function descriptions and strategies to deliver energy & control optimisation outcomes and monitor plant & resource utilisation.
- Provide support & training to the Help Desk Officers, Trades Groups, and other users of the BMS.
- Provide expert advice and technical assistance to building projects.
- As required, provide after-hours support to ensure the ongoing availability of automation and monitoring systems and assistance to operations and maintenance personnel.
