The Lecturer in Nursing is required to teach, conduct research, engage in practice-based activities where relevant, publish and attract research funding in the area of Nursing and other areas. The appointee will promote NIKERI Institute and establish and maintain links and partnerships with the academic, industry, professional communities, and national Indigenous Communities. The appointee will make an independent contribution to NIKERI Institute and Faculty’s undergraduate and post-graduate teaching, research, program development, and relevant service activities. The appointee will liaise with students at all levels.

The appointee will be part of a team that teaches the Institute’s Indigenous Australian students in a culturally inclusive way that recognises the primacy of Indigenous Knowledge Systems. As a part of the Institute’s team the appointee will be required to undertake a variety of tasks to develop the students’ scholarship, research, and professional practice. Staff within NIKERI Institute report through the Director, to the Executive Dean, Arts and Education.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Education and Employability _
- Maintain deep discipline knowledge which is applied to complement unit design
- Collaborate with teaching teams to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources
- Deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery
- Integrate industry, clinical and/or research practice to teaching
- Monitor and adapts assessment practices to improve learning outcomes
- Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive material and practices
- Provide academic support to students within units and guide students to appropriate support services where appropriate
- Support the development of junior colleagues
- Contribute effectively to culture of educational excellence and engages collaboratively with peers
- Complete Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching
- Contribute to discipline-based educational or pedagogy research projects
- Demonstrate emerging reputation in teaching scholarship and pedagogical research
- Assist in integrating new pedagogical research across all aspects of education
- Research and Innovation _
- Engage collaboratively to develop novel and high-quality research or creative activities
- Widely communicates outputs to discipline(s) and the community
- Support seeking funding for research and creative activities
- Build national reputation, based on growing, focused body of work recognised for quality, excellence and impact
- Build track record of timely delivery of outcomes for industry partners
- University Citizenship and Engagement _
- Assist the implementation of local citizenship activities and contribute to effectiveness as influencer
- Contribute to the implementation of specific aspects of University’s strategic agenda
- Assist the implementation of community engagement activities
- Contribute to the implementation of University’s community engagement agenda

**Key selection criteria for this role**:

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a registered nurse
- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous people in contemporary Australian society and the diversity of circumstances of First Nations Peoples
- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively, including the requirement for proper negotiation and consultation with Indigenous Peoples on matters relevant to the delivery of education services to Indigenous people
- Ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching
- Capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
