**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) are recruiting for multiple Parliamentary Service Level 2 Art Handlers within the Art Collections team for casual, part time, full time, ongoing and non-ongoing opportunities arising immediately and over the next year.

The Parliament House Art Collections (the Collections) are nationally significant and include more than 6,000 works spanning all genres of Australian art. The Art Collections perform a unique role in the life and working environment of Parliament House.

The Collections encompass the Historic Memorials Collection, Parliament House Art/Craft Program (architectural commissions), Official Gifts Collection, and Rotational Collection of contemporary artworks, including artworks by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists. The Art Collections team is responsible for the custody, care, development, and promotion of the Collections.

The successful applicants will work within a multidisciplinary team and are responsible for carrying out the handling, storage, movement and installation of artworks throughout the public and private areas of Parliament House.

Training will be provided.

**Who we are looking for**:
We’re seeking highly motivated art handlers with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively within a busy team environment. Early-career art handlers looking for an opportunity within the arts sector as well as those with more experience are encouraged to apply.

People with the potential to contribute to positive workplace culture with a strong track record of performing well following training, and taking direction and feedback well, are encouraged to apply.

Some relevant work experience in a gallery, museum or similar organisation is desirable.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- The position requires capacity to undertake physically demanding manual handling work - a medical examination may be required.
- The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (Protected/Restricted) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 2 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1 Undertake tasks associated with the installation, removal and movement of works of art throughout the public and private areas of Parliament House which may include framing or packing artwork for storage.

2 Assist with location and inventory control of the Parliament House Art Collections.

3 Work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the display of exhibitions and inward loans in the public and private areas of Parliament House.

4 Be aware of and report collection condition issues and assist with basic tasks to ensure the maintenance and care of works of art on display and in storage.

5 Maintain workspaces and associated equipment and materials in an orderly condition.
