**About the Role**:
Mechanical Engineering Technician assists in mechanical engineering research, design, manufacture, construction, operation and maintenance of machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations, and facilities.

**Job Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Promote total job safety and environmental awareness good work practices and environmental protection.
- Ensure that safe acceptable working methods and practices are implemented.
- Plant operated and maintained, to enable operations to be carried out safely and without environmental harm.
- Ensure that hazards are identified, risks assessed, and control measures planned and implemented.
- Monitor and review the performance of plant.
- Preparing drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering work under supervision of Mechanical Engineers.
- Assisting Mechanical Engineers in the design of mechanical equipment and plant.
- Analysing the work requirement and selecting the tools and equipments accordingly.
- Involved in the assembling and installing of mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems.
- Providing an estimate of material costs and quantities.
- Analysing data, calculating complex computations, and preparing diagrams.
- Liaising with Mechanical Engineers and organizing the supervision and inspection and maintenance of machines and plant.
- Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications and regulations.
- Assist with the overall progress reports and other reports related to schedule and cost as required by the Manager.
- Assist in reporting on progress, manpower and costs as well as the work scheduling and procurement.
- Promptly advise management of any issues that could be variations to the contract and keep accurate records of such issues.
- Organise, coordinate, and direct construction activities in accordance with construction schedules.
- Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes, and standards, which form part of the contract.
- Ensure that all personnel are inducted and trained in their roles and responsibilities and are competent to perform the duties allocated to them.

**Skills required**:

- 10 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering and trade

**Experience**:

- Cert III in Engineering (specifically a mechanical trade).
