The Uniting Inhouse Legal Team is a part of the Governance, Risk & Quality Directorate (GRQ). The mission of GRQ is to strengthen the quality of services by building sustainable governance frameworks that will enable Uniting to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

The objective of the Inhouse Legal Team is to facilitate the management of Uniting’s exposure to legal risk by recommending preventative action, identifying early dispute resolution opportunities and providing commercially-useful advice.

**Overview**

The Legal Office Manager will be accountable for the operation of Uniting’s Inhouse Legal Team.

The tasks performed by this position include processing invoices, monitoring budgets, scheduling meetings, diarising reminders for critical timelines, communicating with law firms, delivering correspondence, copying and scanning documents, typing legal documents, organising files, maintaining registers, ordering supplies and overseeing operational arrangements. This work ensures Uniting’s Inhouse Legal Team operates smoothly and efficiently, so the inhouse lawyers can focus their efforts on client interactions, compliance activities and project work.

**Permanent Part-Time**

**3 days per week (22.8 hours) 8.30am - 5.30pm**

**Specific Duties**
- Assisting with compliance-related activities;
- Maintaining a confidential database of all legal matters;
- Ensuring reports required by the Board and Executive are prepared on time to meet agreed timelines;
- Liaising with law firms and internal stakeholders concerning instructions, fee estimates, presentation of awareness sessions, matter status and report preparation; and
- Requisitioning purchase orders and monitoring budget expenditure.

**Preferred Experience**

You currently work as a legal assistant/legal secretary with the requisite work experience and/or have recently obtained (or in the latter stages of completing) a Certificate IV in Legal Services.

- Type at a speed of at least 50 wpm
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrate a familiarity with legal processes and associated terminology
