**Purpose of the Role**:

- To plan, organise, lead and control site operations for compliance with the construction programme ensuring consistency in terms of, and in order to, ensure safety, cost, time, quality, environmental, community targets are achieved.**Qualifications**:

- Trade or equivalent in Civil Engineering
- White Card
- Driving License

**Experience**:

- Experience working on Australian civil construction environment, precast concrete elements and associated facilities establishment
- Minimum 8 years’ experience on major infrastructure construction operations of similar scale with a proven ability to operate in a dynamic “live” environment and to meet significant program hurdles.

**Required Competencies**:

- Sound knowledge of local WHS standards and regulations
- Ability to supervise team members, work closely with safety and other departments to control and maintain project safety standards
- Demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to lead and manage teams
- Demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills
- Practical knowledge and understanding of computers and Microsoft software packages.
- Good communication skill, both oral and written
- Self motivated.
- Mechanical or Electrical Trade background
- Ability to implement and follow through on multiple issues and to achieve productive results
- Sound interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressure
- Good organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to work quickly, effectively and positively in a demanding environment
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Computer skills, competent using maintenance systems
- Ability to drive performance and the lead a team.
- Sound negotiation skills

**Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities**:

- Conduct daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings for direct work team to ensure safety is discussed, promoted and issues are resolved;
- Conduct informal site safety walks each day to elevate employees and subcontractors focus on safety and remove, rectify &/or report any hazards as required;
- Lead and participate in scheduled site safety walks and action any items to rectify issues or improve site safety;
- Ensure equipment undergoes a Plant Hazard and Risk Assessment before commencing work and ensure operators are certified and competent and complete daily plant checklists;
- Develop “One Team” culture so that the site teams cooperate well with each other and integrate effectively with the wider project teams;
- Ensure Apprentices and Trainees are mentored and supervised in accordance with their prescribed learning outcomes;
- Foster and develop an innovative culture among the workforce team where each team member actively looks for better ways to do their job and meet Project requirements;
- Manage day to day performance and development of employees including effectively coaching and mentoring;
- Identify and resolve any IR/ER issues and escalate serious issues to the Superintendent/Construction Manager in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Review and understand all drawings, programs, project specifications and sequences of work for the specific scope of work;
- Be responsible for accurate and effective shift handovers as required;
