**About the role**

**St Margaret Mary's College, Hyde Park **is seeking an experienced** Groundsperson. **This role is a** full time, permanent **position commencing as soon as practicable.

The Groundsperson contributes to the effective and efficient operation of the College by providing a high level of gardening care, maintenance and development of the facilities and transportation services for students. The Groundsperson will work within a team to provide resource management, a safe and pleasant environment for students and employees and create a physical environment that is conducive to learning and safe student movement.

**To join this vibrant school community, you'll need**
- To be competent in the use and/or maintenance of equipment typically used in gardening, building maintenance and grounds services
- At least two years previous bus driving experience
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills with students, parents, teachers and school administrators
- To be able to work independently and with others as a team member
- Demonstrated ability to assess repairs quickly to enable maximum safety and to comply with Workplace Health and Safety legislation
- A demonstrated positive approach towards maintaining a high standard of service

**Key Accountabilities**

Typical duties performed may include but are not limited to:

- Basic maintenance and development of college facilities to grounds and gardens in accordance with schedules and routines or as directed by the Facilities Supervisor, Business Manager, Principal
- Ensuring all work tasks comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements by liaising with the WHS Officer
- Assisting with building and grounds maintenance, gardening, painting, general clean and washing down of facilities
- Carry out minor repairs to the school’s property and equipment as requested
- Assist with the set up and dismantling equipment for school functions
- Drive with safety and due care
- Organise and plan any adhoc transport requirements as required and approved
- Check the bus diary and organise a routine to enable pick up and drop off times are met
- Maintain the bus as per Department of Transport guidelines
- Carry out daily and weekly safety checks to ensure the bus is roadworthy at all times
